What is key "DtSearchRetrieveSteps" in registry?

Hello,

I was setting up dtsearch for a client for first time, and i found in documentation a section for keys to setup in registry as fine tuning, but one of the key was not clear enough to understand if it's really needed or not, it's called "DtSearchRetrieveSteps". Even the explanation is not that clear, at least for me. Can some one clarify more this key? and if it should be set as in the second screenshot?

Efficy 2014 - dtSearch: Possible to search within selection of documents instead of all documents?

Hi all,

For CPI Governance we have this question:

Now when searching within the files of documents (dtSearch), the search always searches trough all documents.
At CPI they use a lot of documents and have a field "Type of document".
They would like to search trough the documents of a specific type only.

Would adding a category to documents do the trick maybe?
So that they select this category on the search screen before searching?
Would that limit the dtsearch to only documents that have that category activated?

Get DTSEARCH result from SQL

One of our client want to do something like that but without using the SOAP request.

Do you know an other way by using native SQL search to get it or it's only generated by the DLL ?
